Robert William Markle, Sr., 75, of Franklin Township, NJ, died peacefully, June 13, 2011 in his home.
Born July 6, 1935 in Phillipsburg, NJ, he was a son of the late Douglas and Adeline Morley Markle.
He was an operating engineer for 41 years with the Operating Engineers Union, Local 825, Newark, NJ, retiring in 1990. He was also an independent dump truck driver.
He enjoyed gardening, wood working, and vacationing with his wife in their motor home.
He and his wife, the former Delores “Dody” Mullikin, were married fifty-six year May 6th.
Survivors includes three sons, Robert William Jr, and his wife Faye of Effort, Pa, Mitchell A., and his wife, Linda of Franklin Township, NJ, and Stephen D. and his wife, Annette of Nazareth, Pa; a brother, Douglas Jr, and his wife Shirley of Glen Gardner, NJ; three sisters, Ethel Toretta of Broadway, NJ, Veronica Mullikin and her
husband, Burdette “Pete” of Washington, NJ and Patricia Markle of Washington, NJ; eleven grandchildren, Mitchell, Jr, Robert III, Dale, Melissa, Joshua, Chelsea, Elisha, Stephen, Jr. Markle; Amanda and Cody Hineline and Ethan Simonson; three great-grandchildren, Caylin, Cael and Peyton Markle.
Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday, in the Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 South Main St, Phillipsburg. Services will be held 7:30 p.m in the funeral home. Cremation will be private after the services.
Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the Warren Hills Regional High School Wrestling program, Washington, NJ.
