Russell E Gunderman, Jr.

Russell E. Gunderman, Jr., 72, of Phillipsburg, NJ, died January 28, 2026.

Born January 31, 1953 in Phillipsburg, NJ, he was a son of the late Russell E. Gunderman, Sr and Minnie A. (Wyant) Gunderman.

Russell served in the U.S. Marine Corps.

Russell was a hard worker.  He loved the outdoors, whether he was hunting, fishing, or simply spending time by the river. He was a Yankees and a Rams fan, and he also enjoyed pitching quoits and playing cards. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with friends and family, especially his granddaughters.

Russell is survived by four sons, James and his wife Rebecca of Phillipsburg, Chris and his partner Stephanie of Phillipsburg, Mark and his wife Tabatha of Harmony Twp, NJ and Daniel and his fiancé Heather Walker of Phillipsburg; a brother, John Gunderman of Nazareth; a sister, Terri Hildebrandt and her husband Dale of Bath, PA; four grandchildren, Ashley, Kinsley, Addalyn and Emylia and Heather's children, Logan, Dylan and Layla, and several nieces and nephews. A son, Russell III, a granddaughter Katie and two sisters, Adella and Rusann "Rusty" all died earlier.

A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 7:30 pm, Thursday, Feb. 5, 2026 in the Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 S. Main St, Phillipsburg, NJ. (www.noto-wynkoop.com). A period of remembrance will begin at 7:30 pm.

Those wishing to offer an expression of sympathy are asked to consider donation to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital in Russell's memory.
