Ruth Lauer Obituary

 Ruth T. Lauer, 73, of Lopatcong Township, died Tuesday, July 19, 2011 in the Lopatcong Center.

Born July 4, 1935, in Brooklyn, NY, she was a daughter of the late Edgar and Margaret Schaffner Link.

She was a member of St. Philip and St. James Roman Catholic Church, Phillipsburg.

Ruth was a long-time volunteer at Warren Hospital in Phillipsburg, where she was instrumental in establishing the Wishing Well Gift Shop and was a TV representative. She also worked at the child day care at the hospital. She was a past president of the Lopatcong Township Emergency Squad Ladies Auxillary; she was a past president of the Lopatcong Township School Board.

Ruth also owned and operated the former Carvel Ice Cream Store in the Hillcrest Mall, Lopatcong Township, along with her husband, Raymond A. Lauer, who died in 1996.

Survivors include two sons, Raymond J. and his wife, Doris, of Phillipsburg and Edward P. and his wife Jeanine of Lopatcong Township; two daughters, Gloria M. Hull and her husband, Edward and Judith A. Wolfinger and her husband, Gary, both of Phillipsburg; three brothers, Joseph, Ralph and Robert; three sisters, Edna Maggard, Harriet Sturiano and Margaret Scholz; ten grandchildren, Braydon, Brenna, Erin and Emily Lauer, Ryan, Brandon and Loren Hull and Garrett, Julia and Seth Wolfinger.

Visitation will be held Friday, 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm in the Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 South Main St, Phillipsburg. Services will begin 11:00 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 11:30 a.m. in the church, 426 South Main Street, Phillipsburg. Entombment will be in Holy Apostle’s Mausoleum, Greenwich Township. Online condolences may be submitted by visiting www.noto-wynkoop.com.
