Theresa M Merlo, 89, of Lopatcong Twp, NJ, passed away September 6, 2016 at the Brakeley Care Center, Lopatcong Township, NJ surrounded by her loving husband and children.
Born August 21, 1927 in Freemansburg, PA. She was the daughter of the late Luigi and Mamie (Miller) Plebani.
Theresa was the wife of Nicholas C Merlo. They observed their 67th wedding anniversary September 18, 2015.
She graduated from Liberty High School in Bethlehem, PA.
She was a member of Ss. Philip & James Roman Catholic Church, Phillipsburg. She was an active volunteer for the Phillipsburg Area Meals-on-Wheels. Theresa was also a former Brownie and Girl Scout leader.
In addition to her loving husband, Nicholas, Theresa is survived by her children, a son Cornel and his wife Pam of Centerburg, OH; daughters Terry Clymer and husband Jerry of Palmer Twp, Pa, Joan Moshman and her husband Andy and Nicki Bedics and her husband Jay, both of Forks Twp, Pa. and Mary Merlo and her companion, Rick of Greenwich Twp, NJ; a sister, Gloria Ringhoffer of Mechanicsburg, Pa; 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Two brothers, Lewis Plebani and Angelo Madelina and sister, Mary Herczeg all died earlier.
A visitation will be held 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., Friday, in the Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 South Main St, Phillipsburg. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. in Ss. Philip and James Roman Catholic Church, 426 South Main St, Phillipsburg. Entombment will be in the parish mausoleum, Greenwich Twp.
