Valeria "Viola" Michalowski, 95, of Mansfield Township, NJ, former of Phillipsburg, died Saturday, February 2, 2013.
Born December 11, 1917 in Brooklyn, NY, she was a daughter of the late Anthony and Valeria Gutkowski Feltman.
She formerly worked for Taylor-Wharton, and Magnetic Windings, both in Palmer Township, Pa.
Her husband of fifty-eight years, Frederick Michalowski, died in 2002.
She was a member of Ss. Philip and James Catholic Church, Phillipsburg, NJ. She was a past president of the Barber School PTA, Phillipsburg. She served on the Warren County Board of Elections. She was also a former vice president and secretary and long time member of the Firth Youth Center Board of Directors, Phillipsburg. She received the Outstanding Citizen Award from the youth center in 1997 for her 28 years of dedicated service.
Survivors include two daughters, Carole Rood, of Cranford, NJ and Jean Steinberg of Manilus, NY and a grandson, Geoffrey Rood. Two brothers, John and Albert and three sisters, Florence Woolf, Helen Heebner and Irene Feltman, all died earlier.
Funeral services were private, under the direction of the Noto-Wynkoop Funeral Home, 289 South Main St, Phillipsburg. Entombment was in the Holy Apostle's Mausoleum, Greenwich Township, NJ. Online condolences may be submitted by visiting www.noto-wynkoop.com.
